How to Find and Trigger the Request

The blue request note for A Savage Mutt becomes available in Chapter 5 right after you rescue Ashley from the Church. You can pick up the note pinned to a wall near the Merchant stationed outside the Town Hall. Although the note points toward the Village Chief's Manor, visiting the house immediately will not reveal the target.

To trigger the encounter, enter the manor, explore the area, and step back outside through the front door. You will spot the ferocious hound snarling from behind the iron gate leading back toward the Village Square. Once you approach, the creature will turn and run back into the village center, setting up the battle arena.

Combat Strategies for Defeating the Savage Mutt

The Savage Mutt possesses a massive health pool and agile movement patterns that make standard shooting difficult. Utilizing heavy-hitting firepower like the W-870 shotgun or the SR M1903 rifle allows you to land precise, high-damage hits. Flash grenades are particularly effective at stunning the creature, creating direct opportunities for melee knife prompts.

As the battle progresses, the creature mutates and sprouts a sharp, whip-like Plaga tentacle from its back. Keep your distance during this phase to protect Ashley from wide-sweeping attacks that can quickly incapacitate her. Consistently aiming for its exposed head or tentacle will cause the boss to stagger, letting you finish the fight with critical strikes.

Claiming Your Reward from the Merchant

Once you slay the beast, make sure to search its remains to claim an Alexandrite gemstone drop. Afterward, return to any nearby Merchant station to report your success and collect your 8 Spinels. These trade tokens can then be exchanged for high-tier weapon attachments, treasure maps, or exclusive upgrades.
